Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.

Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures.

Fascia is a web of connective tissue that spreads throughout the body in an uninterrupted three-dimensional web from head to toe. Fascia encases all muscles, bones, nerves, and organs in the body. When fascia becomes restricted, it may create adhesions, which can result in loss of range of motion or pain. Trauma and inflammatory responses create myofascial restrictions that produce crushing tensile pressures on pain sensitive structures. This pressure acts as a “straight jacket” on muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and bones producing symptoms of pain, headaches, and restriction of motion. Because of its continuous uninterrupted nature, a restriction in one area of the body can likely influence other areas distant to the site of the injury. It is important to note that fascial restrictions do not show up on x-rays, MRIs, or other medical tests. Scientist, Mae Wan Ho suggests that the crystalline nature of the body’s connective tissue (fascia) serves as a semiconducting medium that allows the subtle power of thought and emotion to resonate through the entire system, from the brain to cell membrane. This is one of the reasons why myofascial release and other therapies that address the fascial system can have a profound impact on overall health.

Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery. May wear shorts, tank top, or two piece bathing suit. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.

30 minute session: $55
45 minute session: $75
60 minute session: $90

90 minute session: $135

Can be combined with any other bodywork modality. Compliments well with Massage Therapy and Cranio Sacral Therapy
